BENJANI MWARUWARI’S TESTIMONIAL MATCH
Senegal’s El-Hadji Diouf and Khaliou Fadiga were among international soccer stars from Africa and beyond who graced Benjani’s testimonial match which was held in Harare, Zimbabwe on 26 May, 2012.These included Nwanko Kanu, Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Nigeria),Lucas Radebe (South Africa),Lomana LuaLua (DRC)and Kevin Rezone (Germany).
Diouf,one of Benjani’s close friends, although they never played in the same team, said “In my country the singer Youssou N’dour is a minister of culture, and if Benjani continues what he’s doing and helping the poor, he can become minister of sport for Zimbabwe.”
Former Zimbabwe national team captain Benjani’s career saw him play for Auxerre in France and Portsmouth, Manchester City, Sunderland and Blackburn in England.
